Attualmente, \u00e8 generalmente riconosciuto che i due tipi sono l'elaborazione termica e l'elaborazione a freddo. Analizziamoli separatamente:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il primo tipo di \"trattamento termico\": prevede un raggio laser con una maggiore densit\u00e0 di energia (si tratta di un flusso energetico concentrato), irradiato sulla superficie del materiale da trattare; la superficie del materiale assorbe l'energia laser e genera un processo di eccitazione termica nell'area irradiata, aumentando cos\u00ec la temperatura della superficie del materiale (o del rivestimento), con conseguente metamorfosi, fusione, ablazione, evaporazione e altri fenomeni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il secondo tipo di \"lavorazione a freddo\": ha un carico di fotoni (ultravioletti) ad altissima energia, in grado di rompere i legami chimici nei materiali (soprattutto quelli organici) o nei mezzi circostanti, per causare danni non termici ai materiali. Questo tipo di lavorazione a freddo ha un'importanza particolare nella lavorazione della marcatura laser, perch\u00e9 non si tratta di un'ablazione termica, ma di un peeling a freddo che non produce effetti collaterali di \"danno termico\" e rompe i legami chimici, quindi non \u00e8 dannoso per lo strato interno e le aree vicine della superficie lavorata.
